Shirley Dean Dooley, 82, of Rector, passed from this world on May 24, 2023, at the Arkansas Continue Care in Jonesboro. Shirley was an active member of the First General Baptist Church until her health prevented her from going. She had been a Christian since her teens and was baptized in the Mayo ditch. She was on the Food Committee, Women’s Missionary Society, Adult Ladies Sunday School Teacher, Special Events Committee and wherever else needed.

Preceding Shirley in death was her parents: James and Freda (Parrish) Gregory; her husbands: Franklin Howard and J.G. Dooley; step-children: Gary Dooley, Patricia Long and Randel Dooley; brothers: Teddy Gregory and Dennis Gregory and a sister Barbara Jean Midkiff.

She is survived by stepgrandchildren: Bart Dooley, Wendy Horne, Holly Reed, Jana Sayers and Jo Smith; daughter-in-law Nina Dooley; brother-in-law Odean and Janet Midkiff; sister- in-law’s: Margaret Covert and Irene Gregory; nephews: Gayl and Janet Gregory, Kenny and Theresa Gregory, Kerry Midkiff, and Wesley Gregory; great-nieces and nephews: Brittna and Ian Richards, Emmy and Miles Knulsbig, Ronnie and Will Emerson, Tara Ridgon, Cody and Bethany Holcomb and Teddy Gregory, along with many Gregory and Parrish cousins.

Visitation was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 27, 2023; at the Irby-Mitchell Funeral Home in Rector with the service starting at 11 a.m. Interment followed at the Woodland Heights Cemetery.
