Shirley Nell Shelton

On Saturday, September 7, 2024, the arms of Jesus opened and Shirley Shelton, a godly Apostolic lady, accepted her invitation to come home. She escaped this life after having her family near her bedside for the final days on this earth.

Shirley Nell Shelton, daughter of the late Arnold Ben and Effie Norma Little, was born February 16, 1939 in Guy, Arkansas. She was born again in February of 1966 when she was baptized in Jesus’ name, and filled with the precious gift of the Holy Ghost. She became a dedicated Christian for the remainder of her life.

Through her many years as a preschool director and then kindergarten teacher for 15+ years, Shirley’s lasting impact was felt by numerous people everywhere. Shirley was a genuine lover of people. She never met a stranger. Her life was a beautiful light that illuminated the lives of all those who met her.

She leaves her family behind to follow her. Shirley married Donald Wayne Shelton on July 12, 1956, and created a beautiful life together for 68 years. Her love for her husband was only surpassed by her tremendous love for Jesus. She remained faithful to Him until her very last breath.

She is survived by her husband: Donald Wayne Shelton of Kennett. Daughter: Tamera Lee Presson “Tammy” and husband Dewayne of Warrenton, Missouri. Daughter- in-law: Karen Shelton. Three grandchildren: Breanna Lea Batchelor and husband Aaron Batchelor, Stephanie Lynn Shelton, and Jonathan Edward Presson. Five great-grandchildren: Breleigh Anna, Reagan Alizabeth, and GentryAaron Batchelor, Ella Marie and Noah Steven Tlapalamatl. Sister: Betty Ray Baker of Mountain Home, Arkansas.

Shirley was preceded in death by her son: Steven Lynn Shelton, brother: Bob Little, and three sisters: Billie Faye Parrish, Addie Louise Williams, and Peggy Ellen Williams.

She had dozens of nieces and nephews, and cousins that she loved. She leaves behind countless friends and people who admired her charisma and unsurpassed prayer life. There will never be another woman like her. We can all count ourselves blessed to have been touched by her in this short span of life.

Burial followed directly after the service at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kennett. Honored to serve as pallbearers: Aaron Batchelor, Jeff Shelton, Rick Baker, Jonathan Presson, Roger Little, and Gentry Batchelor.
