Steven Lee Hubble, only 59 years old, left this world peacefully on September 8, 2022, in his home located in Sand Springs, Okla. He was born July 10, 1963 to Patricia Karol Dickus (Rodery) andJerry William Hubble.

Steven grew up in Saint Charles, Mo. He loved the outdoors and playing outside until dark with his dogs. He taught his beagle, Troubles, to climb up his childhood fort and to slide down the slide. He was a very creative youth who later pursued his love of arts. He met his wife, Kellye, at UMSL in 1981 who he had long admired during their first semester of biology. They were married on June 11, 1988 in a beautiful ceremony.

Steven and Kellye had two children together, Chelsea and Christopher, in 1991 and 1993. He worked for Southwest Airlines for 12 years in Phoenix, Ariz. and following an injury left the job to pursue his passion in arts and spend time with his two children. Steven found a passion in silversmithing and created many stunning pieces of silver that he sold and gave to his family. In between crafting jewelry he turned wood on a lathe and created bowls and wooden sculptures from pieces of wood he collected in Sedona. He would often bring his children along as he looked for fallen wood or went to jeweler supply stores.

Steven had a big heart and loved animals. The Hubble household was full of animals, oftentimes they would have up to four dogs in the house along with a slew of lizards, frogs, a tortoise, and fish. He loved the ocean, his dream was to create a little piece of Hawaii for himself as he pursued live coral aquariums. His favorite fish was clownfish and he found joy in caring for them.

The family moved to San Antonio, Tex., in 2006 and moved into a traditional Texas home. The following year Steven was diagnosed with Leukemia ALL, the first week was difficult, but Steven was a strong man who was determined to beat the cancer. He was surrounded by his loved ones as he was declared in remission in 2008. The following year he was diagnosed with treatment related Leukemia AML. In 2010 he received a lifesaving stem cell transplant and was officially declared in remission from the Leukemia AML.

In 2011 the family moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. Steven loved the beaches and was accompanied to many appointments related to the Graft Versus Host (GVH) that developed following the stem cell transplant, by his daughter, Chelsea. His family loved him very much and together moved to a small Florida bungalow. In 2014 Steven and Kellye moved ahead of their children, now in college, to Greenville, South Carolina. Steven brought his children, Chris and Chelsea, plus Chelsea’s significant other, Bryn, to Greenville to be close to them. The family remained ever close and their home was filled with dogs and laughter.

In 2016 Steven and Kellye once again moved, this time to Chattanooga, Tenn. Steven made many friends there and was a beloved figure within the colorful mountain town. He was joined by Chelsea and Bryn in 2017, his daughter joining them in the city to be close and to pursue a career in advertising. Later the family would live together again in a multi-generational house. In Chattanooga Steven began to have GVH related problems that made it difficult for him to swallow, he began treatments to stretch his esophagus. He was a very strong man who overcame many challenges and refused to give up.

In 2020 the family moved to Sand Springs, Okla., to pursue greener pastures and to continue to bolster their lives together. In 2021 Steven began to have issues with his lungs, he developed multiple bouts of pneumonia that were later discovered to be the result of GVH in his lungs. His hospital stay was long, but his family was with him. Steven rallied just in time to come home for Christmas to be with his family. Although he was not at his strongest in 2022, he was happy and at peace. He loved his family and spent time with them as much as he could. He ate the things he wanted to eat and went for nightly walks. He would also watch movies regularly with Bryn and the two would talk.

Steven was happy and his heart was full when he left this world. He leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory and carry his flame for many years to come.

Steven was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents L.C. and Gladys Hubble of Rector.

He is survived by his wife Kellye Lynn Hubble (Kohrs) of Sand Springs, Okla.; daughter Chelsea Lynn Hubble of Sand Springs, Okla.; son ChristopherAdam Hubble of Daytona Beach, Fla.; father and stepmother Jerry William and Mary Lou Hubble of Sullivan, Mo.; mother and stepfather Patricia Karol Dickus (Rodery) and Michael Dickus of Farmington, Mo.; brother Michael (Micky) Dickus of Farmington, Mo.; Bryn Vonier and Meg Swinney along with a host of other family and friends.
