Vernon Lee Johnson, 63, of Piggott, Ark., passed peacefully from this life into the next, on July, 23, 2022.

Vernon was born on July 6, 1959 to his Pop Richard “Red” & his mom Delores Lydia Rodery Johnson. After attending Piggott High School, he graduated from BRTC, becoming a master in all things mechanical. If there was anything that needed fixed, Vernon could figure it out. He spent the past 45 years serving our local community, with the latter part of those years being spent as the District Manager for Napa Auto Parts. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with his family, anything that involved guns, working in his shop and spending time with his pride and joys, his four grandchildren.

Although he was a man of few words, he worked hard his whole life, he had a huge heart and will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. The impact on those around him will be forever cherished, as his legacy is carried on by many.

On July 14, 1979, he was united in marriage to Teresa Glass, of Fenton, Mo., with whom he just celebrated their 43rd anniversary of marriage. To this union they welcomed two daughters and one child he is now meeting in heaven.

Vernon is survived by his loving wife, Teresa Johnson, of the home, daughters: Lisa (Matt) Mauldin of St. Francis and Susan Johnson of Paragould. Four grandchildren: Quinton Mauldin of Jonesboro, Aaron Mauldin of St. Francis, and Lydia and Monika Sutfin of Paragould; mother-in-law JoAnn Glass of Pollard; brothers: Loran Johnson of Pollard, Carl (Becky) Johnson of Pollard, and Gene (Carla) Johnson of Piggott. Several nieces and nephews that were very dear to his heart, including nephews Richard, Travis, Brian and Michael Johnson, who often stood in as honorary sons.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his infant child and his father-in-law Walter “Bunk” Glass.

Visitation services were held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home in Piggott.

His Life Celebration will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27 at Hoggard and Sons Funeral Home with interment being held at Cummins Chapel in Pollard.

Bro. Mark Trout, Bro. Loran Johnson & Bro. Jason Sutfin will be officiating the service.

Pallbearers will be Matt Mauldin, Quinton Mauldin, Aaron Mauldin, Travis Johnson, Brian Johnson, Michael Johnson and Richard Johnson.
