Local students recognized at ASU
Students on the Chancellor’s and Dean’s Lists for the fall 2023 semester at Arkansas State University have been announced. The lists recognize undergraduate students who achieved the highest gradepoint averages while completing a minimum of 12 credit hours of study.
Free childcare provider training available
Lawrence County Extension in cooperation with Clay, Randolph, and Greene County Extension Services are proud to offer “The Best Care”. The training will be held from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, March 2, at the Lawrence County Library Meeting Room.
Amore Italian spaghetti dinner fundraiser set
Amore, an Italian spaghetti dinner fundraiser for the Brantley family, is being held from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 24 at the First General Baptist Church Life Center in Piggott located at 679 South Taylor. The dinner will also feature entertainment, music and door prizes. The Piggott girls basketball players will be the servers for the night. “This will be a full blown Italian meal experience,” commented organizer Teresa Morris. Cost of the meal is $10 per person. Spring Shoppe event planned

HPMEC plans ‘Garden of Eden’ Reading Retreat
The Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum & Educational Center in Piggott has announced dates for its upcoming event, ‘The Garden of Eden’ Reading Retreat and Banquet, May 10-11. ‘The Garden of Eden’ is one of Hemingway’s most perplexing novels.

Rector Junior High FBLA attend conference
RHS Junior High FBLA members attended the District II Spring Conference held in Pocahontas, Friday, Feb. 9. Members were presented awards for placing in the top five of their competitive events, heard from keynote speaker, Miss Arkansas Cori Keller, and networked with other local members.
