Tuesday night, May 13, beginning at 6 p.m., the coaches of spring sports at RHS presented awards for local and regional top performers in girls basketball, track, boys basketball, baseball and softball. In addition, the RHS Sports Hall of Fame presented the scholarship recipients and the Ryan Rogers Memorial Scholarship recipients were presented. To conclude the night, the Female and Male Athletes of the Year were announced. Maggie Rabjohn and Cash Lindsey took home the major awards.
Rector’s Jeremy McDaniel Sports Complex is ready for the summer season with the purchase and installation of two new scoreboards, one located on the “small softball field” and the other located on the Little League field, each ready for league play. The two senior high fields and boards are maintained by RHS for use of the Cougars Baseball team and the Lady Cougars Softball team. Centennial Bank and Greenbrier were generous in meeting the requests from the Sports Complex Commission through applications for grants that impact the entire community.

The Mohawk track and field teams had an outstanding performance at the
Strategic base running, several linedrive base hits, along with a proliferation of errors told the story for both the Rector Cougars and the Piggott Mohawks in round one of the District Tournament played at Piggott on Monday, April 28.
The Rector Cougar track team traveled to Pocahontas Wednesday, April 30 to compete in the 2A-3 District Track Meet. The athletes gave it their all, and the following are the results.
Piggott Mohawks track team competed in the 2A-3 Jr. High District Track Meet held at Pocahontas High School on Wednesday, April 23. The team competed against Rector, Corning, Marmaduke, Cross County and Riverside.
The 2A-3 Jr. High District Track Meet was held Wednesday, April 23 at Pocahontas High School. Rector Cougar track team along with Piggott, Corning, Marmaduke, Riverside and Cross County competed. Rector athletes did a great job representing their community. The following is a list of athletes that finished in the top three of their event: Tyson Vavak - 2nd 800 Meter Run, 3rd 1600 Meter Run DJ McGuire - 3rd Long Jump Taylor Jaco - 3rd 200 Meter Dash Corbyn Anderson, Brennan Emery, DJ McGuire, Kory Tanner - 3rd 4x100 Relay, 3rd 4x200 Relay Taylor Jaco, Jaylee Hollis, Adrianna Jackson, Chloe Horn - 3rd 4x200 Relay On Thursday, April 17 the Rector Cougar track team traveled to Piggott for the 2025 Hunter Midkiff Invitational. The team came home with several 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishes. The following is a list of medal winners.
The Holcomb Lady Hornets came out with the win on Monday afternoon at the Lady Cougar’s home field. Izabella Blount commanded the mound for the home team. Anna Isom held short stop with Anniston Scott at first base. Libby Green returned to second base and newcomer Kendal Brandon held down third base. Makayla Ward was behind the plate. Millie Murry, Samantha Garcia and Julie Stallings took the outfield.
