The senior Rector Lady Cougars
The senior Rector Lady Cougars were recognized prior to Thursday night’s game against the BIC Lady Mustangs. Seniors honored included Libby Green, daughter of Brad Green and April Green and Alejandra DeJesus, foreign exchange student of host parents Adam and Bridgette Branson.

Senior Night held at Rector
Senior night was held Thursday, April 18 in Rector prior to the game against the BIC Mustangs. Seniors honored included Hayden Vavak, son of Mark and Jamie Vavak, Kolton Watson, son of Brian and Tonya Watson, Cash Lindsey, son of Michael and April Lindsey and Parker Sanders, son of Nathan and Cindy Sanders. Not present was Koden Tucker, son of Perry and Kay Tucker.

Rector Cougars dominate Marmaduke Greyhounds 14-1
Rector Cougar baseball fans will need a new scorecard for the games with familiar faces playing new positions. As action opened in the conwww. test against rival Marmaduke, Landon Palmer was at catcher and Colton Watson was on the mound. Hayden Vavak held down third, Colton Haywood took short, Holden Tucker managed second base. Austin Avery stretched at first. Ben Schimming played left field, Keighan Ritter at center and Kason Jetton at right field. That line up did not last long as Coach Robert Dorman made three pitching changes in three innings, Hayden Vavak taking the win with the game called at the end of the 5th inning.

Lady Cougars to compete in Ridge Runner Showcase
In an announcement made recently, Phillips Community College of the University of Arkansas released the field for the 2025 Ridge Runner Showcase, which will be held at the PCCUA Gymnasium December 1820.

Athletes recognized at Piggott Fall Sports Banquet
Parents, coaches and PHS athletes of fall sports gathered in the high school cafeteria on Sunday, March 16 for the Fall Sports Awards Banquet which included Golf, Volleyball and Football. Coach Clinton Haley welcomed everyone and turned the microphone over to golf coach Alan Rabjohn.

City of Piggott plans cornhole tournament
The City of Piggott will be hosting a cornhole tournament at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 26. at the Piggott Community Center. Those interested may call 870-598-2003 or email acrittenden@cityofpiggott.org. Sign-up fee is $45 per team with a 60/40 payout. A food truck will also be available during the event.

Rector Elementary Olympic games held
All Rector Elementary students finished up the throwing accuracy event in Miss Hannah’s PE class on Friday, March 7 for week six of their Olympic games.

Cougar teams secure berth in Regional Tournament
As Rector fans packed the home stands and welcomed guests for the 2A-3 District Tournament, Cobi Hendrix stated, “Action at the concession stand reminded me of the State Tournament.” The student section and the Rector home crowd cheered, lofted signs, and were lively and loud to match the crowds from Cross County and Marmaduke. Rector’s teams had not played a game in eight days, noted Judy Leach, Lady Cougar fan. “The snow days really took their toll on us,” she said.
